First Up, What Do Home Builders Do?

Home builders are responsible for overseeing the construction of homes, commercial buildings, and other structures. They work closely with architects, engineers, and tradespeople to make sure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Home builders are involved in every aspect of the construction process, from planning and budgeting to site supervision and quality control.

How to Work with Your Home Builder

Building a home is a collaborative effort between you and your home builder. Here are some tips for ensuring a smooth partnership:

Communication is Key

Open communication throughout the process is crucial for a successful build. After selecting your builder and finalising colours and plans, you’ll establish a strong working relationship with your dedicated project coordinator. This is the person who’ll keep you informed on progress weekly and oversee all administrative work before construction starts. Our project managers work closely with the project coordinators to ensure they are fully informed on each stage so you are updated with the correct information each week once construction starts. Your allocated project manager supervises the construction and build of your home. Managing tradespeople and ensuring everything meets our high standards of quality craftsmanship.

Weekly updates are ideal but don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Remember to document important discussions, especially regarding variations to your build.

Understanding Variations

Variations are any changes made to your selections or inclusions after the tender or contract is signed. While it’s your dream home, and preferences might evolve, discussing these changes with your Project Coordinator early on is best. This avoids last-minute surprises and ensures all parties are on the same page.

Be sure to get any variations documented and signed off before work commences. This protects you from unexpected costs and ensures you get exactly what you pictured.

Pro Tip: Explore our extensive range of standard inclusions before considering variations. We often provide features as standard that other builders consider “extras.”

Managing Unexpected Issues

Building projects can encounter unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather or material delays. While frustrating, these situations affect both you and your builder. Trust is key. By choosing a reputable builder with a proven track record, you can rest assured they’ll work diligently to overcome challenges and keep your project on track.

Encounter a problem? Address it with your Project Coordinator as soon as possible. Early communication is crucial for a swift resolution.
